Mareo en niños: qué funciona
Los antihistamínicos tienen una revisión de Cochrane detrás de ellos. La mayoría de lo que se vende junto a ellos en la estantería no lo tiene.
Por qué sucede
Su sistema vestibular reporta movimiento; sus ojos reportan un interior estacionario. El cerebro recibe dos relatos incompatibles de la misma situación y responde con náuseas. Ese único mecanismo explica casi todos los consejos prácticos.
También explica por qué el conductor rara vez se siente enfermo: puede ver hacia dónde va el coche y anticipar cada movimiento, por lo que los relatos concuerdan.

Medidas prácticas
- Colócalos donde puedan ver hacia adelante. La información visual y vestibular concuerda mejor mirando hacia adelante que de lado.
- Mantén la cabina fresca y ventilada. El calor y la falta de aire lo empeoran.
- Comida ligera antes. Un estómago vacío y una comida pesada son peores que algo pequeño.
- Cambia a audio en caminos sinuosos. Las autopistas son mucho más tolerables para las pantallas que los pasos de montaña.
- Detente al primer signo. Una vez que comienza el vómito, el resto del viaje es mucho más difícil de rescatar.
- Lleva el kit obvio. Bolsas, toallitas, un cambio de ropa, agua. La preparación reduce el estrés de todos.
