Proč se to děje
Váš vestibulární systém hlásí pohyb; vaše oči hlásí stacionární prostředí. Mozek dostává dva neslučitelné popisy téže situace a reaguje nevolností. Tento jediný mechanismus vysvětluje téměř všechny praktické rady.
To také vysvětluje, proč řidič se zřídka cítí nemocný: vidí, kam auto jede, a anticipuje každý pohyb, takže zprávy se shodují.

Praktická opatření
- Usaďte je tam, kde mohou vidět dopředu. Vizuální a vestibulární informace se lépe shodují, když se dívají vpřed než do strany.
- Udržujte kabinu chladnou a větranou. Teplo a dusno to zhoršují.
- Lehká strava předem. Prázdný žaludek a těžké jídlo jsou horší než něco malého.
- Přepněte na zvuk na klikatých silnicích. Dálnice jsou mnohem snesitelnější pro obrazovky než horské průsmyky.
- Zastavte při prvním znamení. Jakmile začne zvracení, zbytek cesty je mnohem těžší zachránit.
- Mějte s sebou základní vybavení. Tašky, ubrousky, změna oblečení, voda. Příprava snižuje stres pro všechny.
